Core MPO Plans & Programs

The documents listed below are the core metropolian planning documents KATS MPO regularly publishes. These documents include the Transportation Improvement Program, Unified Work Program, Annual Listing of Federally Obligated Projects, and Long Range Transportation Plan.

Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is essential to surface transportation projects that are financed in part with federal funds in a metropolitan area. All projects within the KATS metropolitan planning area that are programmed to use any amount of federal funds must be documented in the TIP. The TIP lists transit, highway, and bicycle and pedestrian projects expected during the next four fiscal years.

Long Range Transportation Plan

The Long Range Transportation Plan is updated every 5 years, in accordance with federal legislation. The plan provides information on the current transportation conditions at the time of adoption and includes goals and priorities for transportation improvements over the next 25 years. The Long Range Transportation Plan also serves as a foundation for the development of the transportation improvement plan.

Obligated Project Lists

The Annual Listing of Obligated Projects is produced every year in early fall. The document is a list of projects that have had federal funds obligated from the previous fiscal year.

Unified Work Program (UWP)

The Unified Work Program is a document that is produced annually and outlines the expected work to be performed and how planning funds are allocated to the work elements listed in the document.
